Stages

STAGE 1

The first stage of the VolCAT Platja d’Aro will start in the town of Castell d’Aro, in the Baix Empordà region. The stage, with a distance of 40km and almost 1,300m of accumulated positive slope, with a few first kilometers of asphalt and a wide uphill track, will enter the heart of Les Gavarres following non-technical paths and tracks with soil and vegetation characteristic of area. A long climb until reaching Puig d’Arques that will give way to a descent in which you will have to be careful given the conditions of the terrain. We will pass through the Golf Course area again before facing a descent with some technical sections before the last kilometers of the stage.

STAGE 2

The second stage of the VolCAT Platja d’Aro will also start in the town of Castell d’Aro, but we will go in a southerly direction. The stage, with a distance of 42kms and almost 900m of accumulated positive gradient, presents the first flat kilometers where you can impose a high pace, until you enter the area of Solius, where after a technical trail we will start the first ascent of the day An area with flow following a downhill path will give way to the second and last ascent of the day, up to La Creu d’en Barraquer to, once we leave a paved section, start a technical trail where extreme precautions must be taken. A final surprise from an XCO circuit during the final kilometers will put the icing on a magnificent day.
